Though it’s still too warm in LA to be all layered up, other parts of the world can’t say the same. So in case you’re living in NYC or somewhere along the lines with temperatures taking a plunge, I wanted to share what to wear for a night out when it’s cold outside. I’ll admit that I’ve had my fair share of struggles when it comes to looking chic and sophisticated in cool, windy temperatures. And through many lessons learned the hard way, I now keep my outfits simple and layered for max comfort and style. If you’re planning a night out look that’s elevated and on point for special occasions from the bar to date night, read ahead.
Sleeved Tops
Sleeved tops can be sexy too! When I spotted this satin blouse, I knew it would be the perfect dressy piece as it can be styled in various ways from tucking into high-waisted trousers or leather skirts. Other options I favor include sheer turtlenecks and lace sleeves that offer a bit of coverage without coming off too conservative.
Printed Trousers
By now, you guys know that I am a trouser addict and it’s one of my go-to pieces in the fall and winter for getting dressed up. I’m changing things up this season by swapping solid colored versions for printed options. The slightly sheer style of this one by Nanushka makes it perfect for going out. The high-waisted fit and tie waist belt are all elegant touches.

Fall Textures
In the fall, we have the luxury of sumptuous fabrics at our finger tips. Think velvet, satin, suede, leather, sequin, and the likes. Anytime I think of a going out look, I always look to texture first. Materials like velvet and corduroy are a surefire way to stay warm.
Simple Jewelry
Perhaps the easiest way to glam yourself up is with simple jewelry. I love layering delicate necklaces together and wearing bold rings.
High Heel Mules
Lastly, never undermine the power of mules. It’s got to be one of my most-worn and favorite shoe styles to date. They’re so versatile as you can find sandal and closed toe options. In this look, I wore my asymmetrical mules from & Other Stories but you’ll also catch me wearing these Malone Souliers ones often. Both are perfect for fall.
