I’ve been a fan of the “no makeup makeup look” long before it was a thing. Sure, like everyone else I over tweezed my brows in my teens and probably over did it on the self-tanner back in the day, but my makeup style has never been particularly heavy. When it comes to glam I have one objective — Instagram filter makeup. I’m obsessed with making my makeup look like an Instagram filter in real life, and I’m not ashamed to admit it.

To get the softened, evened out look of an IG filter, it all starts with the right foundation. Lately I’ve been wearing the Diorskin Forever Perfect Foundation. It has a matte finish and minimizes pores for an almost airbrushed look. I love how it gives my skin that whole smooth, flawless, subtly luminous effect that I usually get from my fav filters.

Matte foundations can go flat, fast. I used a bit of Laura Mercier Face Illuminator to add glow to the high points of my face. A little goes a long way with this product, all you need is a few sweeps to look like you just stepped into some awesome lighting.

I used the Persona Cosmetics Identity Eyeshadow Palette to add definition in my crease and a little shimmer on my lid — nothing major, just enough to make my eyes pop a little.  I finished the look with the Hourglass Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil, Lancome Definicils Mascara, and Fresh Sugar Lip Caramel Hydrating Balm.

If you’ve got any product rec’s for Instagram filter makeup, drop them in the comments. While we’re on the subject, what’s everyone’s favorite photo editing app? Share the wealth!

Hourglass ambient lighting powders. Omg I see the biggest difference on days that I am sick and gray looking. It makes me look AMAZING and like i have a soft focus light shining on my face constantly.
