Blazers are one of my favorite fashion trends because of their clean, sophisticated look and versatility. Similar to my obsession with boiler suits, the blazer trend flips the idea of traditionally masculine clothing in an inventive and exciting way. By embracing the oversized look, you can turn a formal uptight image into something effortlessly chic.
This season, be sure to add a loose-fitting, oversized blazer to your spring outerwear repertoire. Besides feeling ultra comfortable and lightweight, the interplay between its classic, formal cut with an oversized fit exudes the ultimate cool-girl factor! Some of my favorite places to grab affordable yet chic blazers are Mango, & Other Stories, and H&M. Here are three ways to style an oversized blazer:
1. Minimalistic & Neutral
Neutrals always win. If you are going for a clean, classic look that provides you enough freedom to accessorize however much or little that you want, stick to neutral tones. For a dark black or navy blazer, keep the rest of your outfit on the lighter side with off-white, beige tops and trousers. On the other hand, you can style a lighter blazer with medium washed denim and a casual tee. One of my favorite trends of the moment is going monochromatic in beige. The beauty of a neutral ensemble is how refreshing it looks.
2. Wear With a Skirt for a Feminine Flair
Oversized blazers also look incredibly stylish with more feminine elements like skirts paired with naked sandals or tall boots! This spring, you can simultaneously show off your legs and keep it casual with a slip skirt, oversized blazer, and strappy heels. This look is also quite flexible, and can easily transition from work to evening wear.
3. Grandfather Chic
Too many people stray from oversized blazers because of their frumpy look. However, 2019 is the era of grandfather chic. You can wear an oversized blazer and still exude a cool, understated vibe! Try a tweed blazer with black high-waisted pants then throw on a pair of loafers or boots. Just be sure that apart from the blazer, your other clothing items fit appropriately.
Are you guys rocking the oversized blazer trend? Tell me how you’re wearing it in the comments!
