You know fall is fast approaching when August comes to an end and fashion week is underway. This is the time that I start to look into transitional pieces and new trends that I can start wearing. It sets the tone for the rest of the year. Anyway, you guys know I’m constantly in black and white – anything neutral. But I noticed that this upcoming season fails to be scarce in prints and I’m going to roll with it. The trending prints for fall are rich in color, mesmerizing and so alluring. I’m looking forward because they’re making fashion fun and interesting again. And if you are too, these are the only ones that will matter these next several months.
Folklore
I never thought I’d wear folklore-inspired anything, but never say never in fashion because you always do. This Chloe dress is the perfect example of it. The funky mix of paisley-like patterns and woozy prints implore a heartland spirit. I may have started out in a floor-sweeping dress but textured knits and blouses could be next. Something about it feels homey, cozy, and native.
Animal
If this ubiquitous Realisation Par skirt is an indication of anything, it’s that leopard print is going to MAJOR! I caught the rise of snake printed garments and zebra stripes, which are becoming widely available in neutrals and crazy neon hues, but leopard will be the most popular of all.
Plaid
There are so many different types of plaid including glen plaid, tartan, and herringbone which I categorize as plaid even though you may disagree. But plaid is so different this season because we’ll all be juxtaposing various style – and in bold colors too. Interesting designs and prominent cuts are key for success when mixing and matching.
Artisanal Florals
Florals can be worn beyond spring and summer. Think deep bright buds emblazoned on dark backgrounds for fall. Some may look very artisanal with hand drawn or painted designs and glitter accents.
