When you think of plaid, you think of a school girl, or your super comfortable flannel that you never wear out of the house. Let’s refresh your brain! Plaid is back, and here to stay for a while. If you are opting for a more subtle plaid look, then I would suggest a few things. Go for more subtle colors with darker hues, change up your plaid print (tartan is my fave), layer your plaid to shift the focus. Baby steps!
Earlier in the month, my friend Cibelle Levi (who happens to be an AMAZING photographer), and I decided to spontaneously get a way for a few days. We got to shoot at the beautiful Kaufman house in Palm Springs! One of the very first outfits we shot in was (my favorite) – it was a black t-shirt, my go to backpack, my high waisted tan tartan plaid pants, and my black creepers. I scored these ultra-chic pants from Totokaelo! I chose these tan tartan pants because the tartan print is subtle, and the color is a darker hue. Then I blended these pants with my black tee and tan back pack to create a more well-rounded look. When you think plaid, you think of a stripey-distraction. This way of styling (and embracing) plaid, makes it as if it is now a simple staple to wear just about anywhere.
Totokaelo is one of my favorite go to stores I think of when I need/want to shop. They challenge the typical convention of what shopping can be, and honestly it is refreshing. You guys know me, and I am not your typical fashion blogger. I am always trying to show you guys the art of what fashion can be. Totokaelo draws connections between fashion, art, music, and culture. They are progressive while also being reliable. They have a mix of well established and familiar brands, but also throw in new brands for the consumer to discover. I love that!! I love being fashion forward, and discovering new things, and Totokaelo is the destination for that. They are an online retailer, but also has storefronts in both Seattle and New York. (So, if you need something in New York in a pinch, they have your back!)
