THE COOL NEW YEAR’S EVE OUTFIT THAT ISN’T A DRESS

As we wrap up the holiday season, we are left with one big evening in which we celebrate the arrival of the new year. This is the big excuse we have been waiting for to dress to the nines. However, if you are like me, you tend to lean towards the unconventional route when it comes to dressing up. Although there is nothing wrong with a flashy, sequin-covered mini dress from time to time, this year was all about the power suit for me. If you are still on the cusp about what to wear for NYE, here are the elements needed for a cool New Year’s eve outfit that isn’t a dress.

The Suit

Obviously the most indispensable part of the New Year’s Eve look is the suit itself. Whether you want to mix and match and the jacket with the trousers or opt for a matching set is completely up to you. No matter what, both looks are killer as long as you rock it with confidence. If you want to keep it sultry, ditch the shirt and just rock the jacket for an updated look to the power suit.

Heels

The power suit and a killer pair of heels go hand-in-hand. In fact, this combination could make anyone feel invincible. However, the key when it comes to choosing footwear for a night out is to make sure they are comfortable. Chances are, you will be spending hours socializing and drinking in anticipation of the ball dropping so choose wisely!

Statement Jewelry

I have a couple of minimal rings I tend to always wear but I really wanted the focal point of my accessories to be these statement earrings. This addition is a much more subtle way of adding that traditional NYE bling into your look. If you decide to opt for a statement piece, keep your other jewelry to a minimum so they don’t overpower one another.

Belt (optional)

An optional accessory you may want to consider adding to your NYE power suit attire is a waist belt. Depending on the type of suit you opted for, something to cinch the waist can pull the whole look together. You can keep it simple with a minimal leather belt or if you have a chain belt, this could replace your statement jewelry piece.

Clutch

Last but certainly not least, you need an evening clutch to complete your festive night out look. All you need is a chic evening bag to slip your essential items when you are out and about at your new year’s eve party.
