I dunno about you, but I don’t need an excuse to treat myself to a new pair of sneakers, lol. Whether it’s a classic pair of tennis shoes or a modern trainer, I love working new styles and silhouettes into my wardrobe. For the most part I just buy what I like, (I like to think of myself as a “love at first sight” sneaker shopper), but the more I get into sneakers, the more I find myself wanting to learn the backstories behind new releases. Right now I’m really into the adidas ARKYN, a new silhouette from an adidas with a cool concept.
At first, the ARKYN look like a cool trainer, but they’re more than just looks. The shoe is a women’s exclusive and while it’s comfortable enough for working out — shout out to the super comfy Boost sole — the vintage-inspired silhouette holds its own when it comes to style. adidas describes the ARKYN as “a trainer meant for creating, working, thinking, inspiring and collaborating.” The idea that a brand would create a shoe for women who want to be authentic, creative, and athletic really struck a chord with me. You can lace the ARKYN in different ways or skip the laces altogether. The shoe is really all about creativity.
Has anyone ever told you that if you wore baggy pants you had to balance it with a tighter shirt? Or that every loose top had to be worn with something form-fitting on the bottom? Can we all just agree that’s a totally outdated fashion rule? I love going completely oversized for a cozy look. These I.Am.Gia. Cobra pants have an elasticized ankle that are perfect for showing off a pair of sneakers and I’ve been living in this comfy hoodie by 7 For All Mankind.
I’d love to hear from anyone else who’s loving the adidas ARKYN so drop a comment if you own a pair or have a recommendation for cool kicks I should try.
