You’ve probably heard it a thousand times, but sleep is extremely vital to your overall health. I’m pretty sure we all have the best intentions of getting a full night’s rest, but for some of us it’s harder than others. Some days my packed schedule makes falling asleep a breeze, other nights — not so much. A lot of times I’m totally wired from emailing, editing, and scrolling social media for hours (guilty, lol) that when it comes time to turn in, I can’t seem to unwind.

I can only get my best sleep when I consciously put forth the effort to reeelax. If you’re like me and could use a hand getting your best sleep, here are a few things that have worked for me.
I like to use my nighttime beauty routine as a time to practice some self-care and wash away the day. On nights when I want to go the extra mile, I apply an overnight hydrating mask. My skin loves the extra pampering and the calming effect gets me ready for rest.
Next, I reach for the Saje Peaceful Slumber Sound Sleep Oil Blend. It’s a mixture of oils including chamomile — which I’m sure all the tea drinkers out there know is the absolute best ingredient for sleep and relaxation. I apply the oil on my temples, wrists, and at the nape of my neck and it is oh so calming. Seriously, I get my most peaceful night’s sleep when I use it. The entire line is vegan, cruelty-free, and travel-friendly, so check them out if you haven’t already. Below are some of my other favorite essential oils!
The one habit I had to break to get better sleep is knowing when to put. down. my. phone. It’s so tempting to check my inbox and social media just one more time, but instead of reaching for my phone, I reach for a good read. I suggest reading before bed even if you don’t consider yourself a “book person.” Even as little as a few pages is an excellent way to unwind before bed. Right now I’m reading Crushing It!: How Great Entrepreneurs Build Their Business and Influence-and How You Can, Too by Gary Vaynerchuk. If you aren’t following him on Instagram already, you should be — he’ll definitely inspire you!
I absolutely swear by my Slip sleep mask. It helps me relax by blocking out light and it has tons of beauty benefits as well. It protects delicate eye skin from the friction of sleeping on a pillow and since it’s silk it doesn’t wick away moisture or absorb skin care products the way a cotton pillowcase can.
If there’s one thing you should absolutely try like… tonight, it’s soothing music before bed. I prefer ocean sounds and listen to the Ocean Waves playlist on Spotify every night, but if you search “relaxing” you’ll find other options.
Sweet dreams, guys!
