One of the go-to pieces in my winter wardrobe is the midi skirt because it’s versatile and always look good. While you’ll probably catch me wearing them with sneakers and crop tops over warmer weather, there are tons of ways to style them in the winter. This simple piece is ideal for any occasion because you can add different details and contrasting pieces to create a unique look. Below, I’ve rounded up a few ways I like to style a midi skirt in the winter.
With Boots
A midi skirt + boot combo has been one of my repeat outfits this season. I love tucking a turtleneck sweater into a high-waisted midi then stepping into a pair of tall boots. I’ve tried this look many times with different textured boots, including snake print and croc embossed, as well as classic suede. The result is always catchy, chic, and unexpected. This combo works for satin, knit, or woven midi skirts. You can see how I styled a similar outfit back in Dubai.

With a Blazer or Duster Coat
A midi skirt always looks elevated topped off with a blazer or duster coat. This combo is perfect for showing off a pair of bold boots, such as animal print, patent leather, or a metallic heel.

With a Chunky Knit
Styling a midi skirt doesn’t always have to be prim, proper, and tailored. In fact, one of my favorite ways to wear it is by layering an oversized sweater on top, leaving it untucked as seen here. This looks best on a-line, pleated, or swingy skirts. It’s also how many of the fashion-IT girls will style them in the winter.
How do you wear your midi skirts when it’s cold out?
